Tyre Pressure Monitoring System

What is a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System?

Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) are a complete solution designed to enhance driving safety and efficiency by providing real-time monitoring of tyre pressure and temperature. Promata TPMS products are engineered to deliver precise and reliable data, notifying drivers when readings are outside set thresholds, allowing drivers to detect and address tyre issues promptly, reducing the risk of accidents and tyre-related breakdowns.

Promata TPMS kits are easy to use, effective and can save you hassle, money and injuries. Heralded as the best TPMS for Towing by CHOICE, Promata's MATA 1E among our other TPMS prove to be reliable and effective solutions to keeping you and your family safe.

Main Benefits

Extend Tyre Life Icon Extend Tyre Life

Properly inflating your tyres helps them last longer, saving you money on replacements. Under-inflated tyres, for example, wear out up to 45% faster when their pressure is 30% lower than recommended.

Reduce Driving Risks Icon Reduce Driving Risks

Keeping your tyres properly inflated enhances your safety on the road. It improves vehicle handling, reduces braking distances, and lowers the risk of dangerous blowouts, helping you avoid accidents.

Improve Fuel Efficiency Icon Improve Fuel Efficiency

Save on fuel costs by maintaining the right tyre pressure. Even a small 9% drop in pressure can increase your fuel consumption by about 5%, so proper inflation helps your money go further.

Which Sensor is best for you?

Promata offers both Internal and External sensors. Our TPMS sensors provide reliable readings while giving you the option to choose whichever you prefer!

Internal sensors are installed inside your tyre and replace the air valve completly while external sensors are screwed onto the valve cap.

You can even mix and match depending on your preferred setup!

TPMS FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Whats the difference between the Mata C, Mata 1, Mata 2

The Mata C is a cigarette style monitor that is capable of 1-4 sensors. This is best suited for monitoring only a car.

The Mata 1 and 2 can monitor up to 8 sensors + 2 spare tyres which is suitable for monitoring just your car or your car and a trailer/caravan. The Mata 1 and 2 come with solar panel displays. The only difference between the Mata 1 and 2 is the display.

How does a Tyre Pressure Monitor System Work?

A Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) uses sensors to monitor the air pressure inside vehicle tyres. It alerts the driver in real-time if the tyre pressure drops below a safe level, enhancing safety and fuel efficiency. TPMS sensors can be external, mounted on valve caps, or internal, installed inside the tyre. These sensors transmit data wirelessly to a display unit, ensuring drivers are informed of tyre conditions and can take action to prevent accidents or damage.

What is the battery life for Promata TPMS sensors?

Battery life depends on usage. External battery life is 2 years. Internal battery life is 5 years.

Are replacement Promata TPMS sensors available?

Yes, replacement sensors can be purchased here. These sensors are universal and do not have location marks. You can program/pair the spare to that location.

How do I monitor my car and caravan?

To monitor your car and caravan purchase a unit with the appropriate amount of sensors (for a 4WD with a single axle caravan you would need 6, 8 if you wish to monitor your spare tyres). If you wish to use different types of sensors, purchase the desired sensor type for your car with the kit then purchase extra sensors of the other desired type for your caravan.

Can I use external sensors for my car and internal for my caravan?

Yes! Simply purchase an external sensor kit for your car and extra internal sensors for your caravan. Let us know in the special instructions and we can pair it for you. Otherwise you can easily pair it yourself with instructions found in the manual.

Do I need a booster?

TPMS Signal Boosters (KC-01) are used to strengthen the signal from your sensors. We recommend you install a booster if the distance from the furthest sensor is greater than 8m OR you have lots of electronics in your car.

Make sure to buy the booster with the TPMS kit for heavily discounted prices!

What are the Benefits of Using Tyre Pressure Monitors?

Extends Tyre Life: Proper tyre pressure ensures even distribution of wear, preventing premature damage to the tread and sidewalls. Underinflated or overinflated tyres can cause uneven wear, reducing their lifespan. By using a TPMS to maintain optimal pressure, you can significantly prolong the durability of your tyres, saving money on replacements.

Fuel Efficiency: Maintaining correct tyre pressure reduces rolling resistance, ensuring that your vehicle uses less fuel to move. Low tyre pressure increases drag, causing the engine to work harder and burn more fuel. A TPMS helps drivers optimise tyre pressure, leading to better fuel economy and reduced environmental impact.

Reduces Driving Risk: Low or high tyre pressure increases the likelihood of tyre failure, such as blowouts, which can result in dangerous driving conditions. A TPMS provides real-time alerts about pressure issues, allowing drivers to address them promptly. This enhances vehicle stability, braking performance, and overall safety on the road.

How does the Mata 1E / Mata 1 display show the trailer and spare tyres?

There are three screens: Car screen (4 tyres max), trailer screen (4 tyres max), and spare tyre screen (2 tyres max).

The display has automatic trailer hook/drop recognition. If the display detects the trailer sensors, it will automatically scroll between the car screen and the trailer screen. If there is no trailer, the display will not scroll to the trailer screen.

The display does not normally show the spare tyres during the drive. A warning will pop up if spare tyre pressures are too low. Users can manually check each screen by pressing the “-” button on the display.

Do new internal sensors automatically program to the tyre location they are installed in, or do I need to program them in?

No, they are not automatic. A new sensor will need to be programmed to the display for the system to recognise it. NOTE: these sensors are not OE replacement sensors, they are compatible with Promata TPMS only.
